Futureworks Shops Launches with Tomorrow Lab & Brooklyn Research’s FWRD Fellowship for Aspiring Engineers and Designers

SecondMuse and NYCEDC’s Futureworks Shops program returns for its second year. Futureworks Shops is New York City’s collaborative network of prototyping and innovation spaces where hardware startups turn their ideas into reality. All throughout 2019, you can access subsidized and discounted workspace, machinery and consulting expertise throughout the city. From studio space at NYDesigns in Long Island City, to CNC expertise at Supersmith in Red Hook, it’s all here. Futureworks Shops also introduces the Futureworks Shops R&D (FWRD) Fellowship, an open research program that prepares and connects industrial designers and engineers with growing startups.

Designed and run by Tomorrow Lab and Brooklyn Research, FWRD is a three-month program to mentor and train up currently-unemployed engineers, designers and creative technologists. Besides a monthly stipend, you’ll receive coaching, workspace, Shop access and connection to growing hardware startups. The goal? To prepare you for a full-time position at an innovative New York City company.

Applications are open through March 31, and all the details can be found here. We’ll be back next week with a rundown of what all the Shops have to offer, but for now, spread the word about the FWRD Fellowship far and wide!
