Our Commitment to Racial Justice

We at SecondMuse stand in solidarity with the Black community including the Movement for Black Lives and Black Lives Matter. While our company was founded on principles of building more inclusive innovation ecosystems and dismantling barriers to accessing them, we can do better.

We are committed to supporting the re-imagining of a future built on racial and economic justice. We stand behind our Black founders seeking to pursue entrepreneurship. We are looking at the ways in which we, as a team, can take action, now and long term, in order to deepen our support for our existing Black founders, mentors, and partners and to create brave spaces for others to join this community.

As part of this work, we will be listening and learning from our community and alongside our community. We will follow the great work of others who have been doing this work already, such as DigitalUndivided, who support Black and Latinx women entrepreneurs, and platforms such as the Plug, focused on activating and documenting the Black innovation community. We’ve allocated resources from our programs to these organizations along with Dismantle Collective and Black Lives Matter NYC. We are looking at ways to forge long-term commitments to these organizations as well. Please check them out and support their work if you are able.

In the coming weeks, we will be looking at our own programming, our team, and our practices to understand the impact of the decisions we have made related to racial justice and to understand how we can be better allies. We will report back.

We are here. We see you and we stand by you. We have been so honored to be a part of this community these past 7 years; we are indebted and grateful for the vision and endless contributions of our Black founders, mentors, and partners. You are essential to this work and our community. We are committed to doing our work. We deeply believe in you. Black Lives Matter.
