Craftsman Ave is a creative community where artists, designers, engineers, and makers come together to work, teach, and learn. Their 1500 sqft studio includes co-working space and tools for woodworking, metalworking and more. Since opening in 2015, Craftsman Ave has taught more than a thousand students everything from product design to knife making and six of their instructors were awarded Best Instructors by CourseHorse in 2016. Membership starts at $500/month and comes with a small, tight-knit community, 24 hour access to the shop, roof access to the building, a business address and mailbox, and paid teaching opportunities. Craftsman Ave provides a beautiful, functional work space for members and an inspiring classroom for students.
What is Futureworks Shops?
Futureworks Shops is New York City’s collaborative network of prototyping and innovation spaces where hardware startups turn their ideas into reality. You can access subsidized and discounted workspace, machinery and consulting expertise throughout the city. From studio space at NYDesigns in Long Island City, to CNC expertise at Supersmith in Red Hook, it’s all here. Futureworks Shops also introduces the Futureworks Shops R&D Fellowship, a pilot program that prepares aspiring engineers for jobs at hardware startups. Futureworks Shops is brought to you by Brooklyn-based SecondMuse and NYCEDC, and is part of Futureworks NYC, a key component of the City’s Industrial Action Plan that helps local hardware startups and manufacturers increase production here in New York.
